Jersey breed

One of the oldest breed of cattle producing high fat-milk is the Jersey breed. The Jersey breed was exported from the island of Jersey in the La Manche Channel close to France, inhabiting a mildly-tempered marine climate and nearly throughout the year feeding on well kept meadows.

The Jersey breed was established and improved back in the 18th century for the reason to produce butter from its high fat-containing milk. Yet in the 19th century the breed was increasing in popularity and was exported to the USA, Australia, New Zealand and Africa.
