Brown Swiss breed

While being recognized as the oldest current existing dairy breed the Brown Swiss descends from the area of present-day Switzerland, where the Brown Swiss breed has acquired evolutionary traits to survive in harsh weather conditions and rocky land. Some might refer to the Brown Swiss breed as Braunvieh beef cattle, partially due to the fact that the Brown Swiss is an established breed originating from the Braunvieh.

Today, the breed is selected worldwide for its various traits, such as increased milk yield and great fat-to-protein ratio, yet the Brown Swiss is recognized for its meat characteristics. Globally, the gentle nature and still personality as well as the durability and endurance makes the Brown Swiss breed an international favorite among breeders worldwide.

The Brown Swiss breed has a strong development of the musculature.
